The videoEM division of MicroAnalytica was
born in January 2003 with the implementation of it’s
proprietary systems to give everyone access to SEM, ESEM,
and EDS technologies through the web. After two years of development
and testing, researchers can now view the instrument screen
over the web while giving the SEM operator instructions over
the phone. At the same time, the entire sessions are recorded
to video files which are provided on CD or DVD and are stored
in a personal web-based library. The web library contains
all previous videos, micrographs, and EDS spectra and is accessible
from any computer with DSL or greater internet access. Multi-casting
capabilities presently allows up to 3-4 users to view the
videoEM files simultaneously

Terri Hood
Executive Director
Dr. Hood has extensive experience in electron
microscopy, research design and implementation strategies.
She obtained her PhD from the University of Miami in 1991,
specializing in geology, geochemistry and chemical / atomic
interactions. She initiated the videoEM project and founded
MicroAnalytica for the purpose of bringing it to everyone
in academia and industry. In addition to her executive responsibilities
at MicroAnalytica, she also holds a faculty position at the
University of Miami and is the Assistant Director of UM Center
for Ecosystems Science and Policy Undergraduate Program. Thood@videoem.com
 Dr.
Matthew Lynn
Laboratory Director
Dr. Lynn utilized SEM extensively in his
dissertation research at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel
School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. His research specialties
include geology, micropaleontology, and paleoceanography.
While serving as TEM Analyst/Quality Assurance Officer with
E.M. Analytical, Inc. in Dania Florida, he gained extensive
experience in all aspects of transmission electron microscopy.
As Research Scientist and Manager of the University of Miami
Center for Advanced Microscopy he’s gained expertise
in all aspects of Environmental SEM (ESEM) using the Philips
XL30 ESEM-FEG. Dr. Lynn has worked with researchers in geology,
chemistry, biology, medical technologies, failure analysis,
semi-conductors and engineering. He serves as senior research
specialist and ESEM microscopist. mlynn@videoem.com
 Dr.
Bret J. Elkind
Laboratory Director
Dr. Elkind acquired his PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgical
Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He has
extensive background in Nondestructive Evalution techniques
[ultrasound, x-ray diffraction, radiography], as well as in
metallographic & microstructural analysis using both
optical and environmental scanning electron micropy[ESEM]."
His
research history includes materials engineering, anti-submarine
warfare systems analysis, structural engineering, construction
materials testing & monitoring, oceanographic sciences,
and electrochemical interactions within marine environments
(biofouling). Dr. Elkind serves as materials & metallurgical
/ engineering specialist and ESEM microscopist. belkind@videoem.com
 Mr.
Ed Martinez
Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Martinez is experienced in multilingual domestic and international
business/product development, sales and marketing. He has
diverse experience in marketing emerging domestic
and international companies. He serves as Chief Marketing
Officer for MicroAnalytica through a strategic alliance with
The MTZ Group, Inc. (http://www.mtzg.com).

 Mr.
Darden Hood
Managing Member
Mr. Hood is responsible for scientific business development
and management at MicroAnalytica. He has a BS degree from
the University of Miami and 20 years experience in providing
scientific services to academic, governmental, institutional,
commercial and private researchers worldwide. His model is
built upon providing only the highest quality analytical research results,
delivered on a timely and dependable basis. Mr. Hood is
responsible for quality control, business management, customer
service, product and service development and new ventures.
